Nokia partners with Facebook for free access on Asha phones

Nokia today announced a partnership with Facebook for free access to the social network on its Asha smartphones. The handset vendor has tied up with 60 carriers globally with Airtel as its partner in India.The free Facebook access will start with the Asha 501, when it is launched in June.Nokia is the first handset vendor to provide free Facebook access on its phones.

The partnership is mutually beneficial for both Nokia and Facebook as it gives Nokia a clear advantage over white boxed Android smartphones and for Facebook to get more mobile users, especially in the entry-level segment. Of Facebook’s 1.1 billion users, 750 million access the network from their mobile phones.
