Samaung Galaxy Fame launched in India for Rs.11,120 with android Jellybean

We have been hearing about the Galaxy Fame for quite a while now. It was first announced by Samsung alongside the Galaxy Young in February and earlier this month, it was spotted on e-commerce sites. Samsung seems to have discreetly launched the Android smartphone in India and it is now available on Samsung India e-store for Rs 11,120.In terms of specifications, the Galaxy Fame sports a 3.5-inch HVGA (320×480 pixels) and is powered by a 1GHz processor and 512MB RAM, which is a bit surprising as phones in this segment today are being powered by dual-core processors and some are even pushing the boundaries to bundle a quad-core processor.

Other features present are a 5-megapixel rear camera, VGA front camera, 4GB of internal storage that can be expanded using a microSD card, FM Radio and connectivity options like 3G support, dual-SIM card slots, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.0. The phone is also bundled with a 1,300mAH battery that the company claims will survive for 6 hours on 3G and has a standby time of up to 300 hours. On the software front, the phone runs on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean.

It is a little surprising to see Samsung pricing the Galalxy Fame so high, as for a little more you can buy quad-core phones like Karbonn Titanium S5 or the Zen Ultrafone 701 HD among others. But if the Samsung brand is what you crave, you can go for the Galaxy Fame or also opt for the Galaxy S Duos which is slightly cheaper and yet offers better RAM and a bigger display.
