BlackBerry Bold 9720 running BB7 OS surfaces online

BlackBerry has often claimed that it will not discontinue their BB7 OS based smartphones, and will launch new phones on this platform this year. Now images posted by thaibclub indicate that it is indeed gearing up to add BlackBerry Bold 9720 running its old BB7 OS in its portfolio of devices.

Apart from the BB7 OS, the phone will feature BlackBerry’s popular QWERTY keyboard and similar functions as seen on previous models. The phone, as seen in the images, looks pretty thick and seemingly has a rubbery frame. The back of this phone has striped pattern that would help in better grip of the phone. There is a possibility that the company might have used a similar material for the shells of the Z10 and Q10.

The pictures reveal that the phone will be running on OS version 7.1, will support 3G and Wi-Fi, but there is nothing leaked in terms of other specifications. However, this new phone will most likely be priced below the brand’s new affordable BB10 based phone – Q5, which is rumored to get launch for Rs 25,000 on July 16 in India.
