Samsung today launched its two variants of Galaxy S4 – the Galaxy S4 Zoom and the Galaxy S4 Mini – both of them are priced at Rs. 29,900 and Rs. 27,990 respectively. Both the devices were first showcased at the Samsung Premiere 2013 event in London on 20th June.
Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini
Samsung has launched the Galaxy S4 mini in India for Rs 27,990. The phone was originally announced earlier this year alongside the Galaxy S4 Active, and the Galaxy S4 zoom and now the phone landed on Indian shores. Samsung is billing it as a smaller alternative to the Galaxy S4.
The Galaxy S4 mini may look like the S4, but in terms of specs it is an inferior smartphone. It has a 4.3-inch Super AMOLED panel with a qHD resolution, a dual-core 1.7GHz processor, 1.5GB of RAM, and has 8GB of internal memory. On the back it has a 8-megapixel camera and also has a front facing camera. It has a rather large 1,900 mAh battery and weighs an incredible 107 grams which rivals the iPhone 5.
As far as the software is concerned, it runs on Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean which has Samsung’s TouchWiz layer and includes apps like S Health, S Translator, Sound and Shot, Panorama Shot, and Story Album.
Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom
Alongside the Samsung Galaxy S4 mini, the company has also released the Galaxy S4 zoom for Rs 29,900 in India. The phone basically is a hybrid of point and shoot camera and a smartphone.
Features wise, the Galaxy S4 zoom comes with a 4.3-inch qHD Super AMOLED display with a qHD resolution. It runs on the Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean and is powered by a 1.5GHz dual-core processor with 1.5GB of RAM. There is 8GB of internal storage space which can be supplemented to up to 64GB using a microSD. The major attraction of the phone is its 16-megapixel camera sensor with 10X optical zoom, while the front has a 1.9-megapixel camera.
The phone is very thick at 15.4mm due to the 16-megapixel sensor that protrudes at the back. On connectivity front, there is 3G, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, GPS and A-GPS support, along with a 2,330-mAh battery.
