Samsung has launched the Galaxy Tab 3 7.0 and Galaxy Tab 3 8.0 in India for Rs 17,745 and Rs 21,945. Samsung is calling both these products the Galaxy Tab 3 211 and Galaxy Tab 3 311 in India. Both tablets are not exactly high-end Android products and don’t set the stage on fire with their specs. Nonetheless, both are crucial for Samsung’s tablet plans in India, which is being cannibalized by local Android OEMs in the low-end and Apple’s iPad mini and iPad in the high-end.
The Galaxy Tab 3 7.0 sports a 7-inch TFT display with a lowly resolution of 1024×600 pixels. It has a dual-core processor clocked at 1.2GHz which is made by Marvell. It also has 1GB of RAM, 8GB of internal memory which expandable via a microSD card slot. There is a 3-megapixel camera in the back and a 1.9-megapixel camera in the front. It has a 4,000 mAh battery and runs on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. It also supports 3G connectivity.
The Galaxy Tab 3 8.0 is a more high-end product, but only slightly. It has a 8-inch display with a resolution of 1280×800 pixels and is powered by a dual-core Exynos 4412 processor clocked at 1.5GHz. Actually, this is the very same chipset that powers the Galaxy S II, but has a slightly higher clock speed. There is 1.5GB of RAM, a Mali 400 GPU, 16GB of internal memory, a microSD card slot and a 4,450 mAh battery. There is a 5-megapixel camera in the back and a 1.3-megapixel camera in the front. As usual it offers a gamut of connectivity options like Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, USB and A-GPS. It runs on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean with Samsung’s TouchWiz Nature UX running on top.
The Galaxy Tab 8.0 will also be one of the slimmest tablets on the market at 7.4mm. There is also a 3G version which costs for Rs 25,725. All the products will be available from this Sunday onwards.
