Google’s first generation Nexus 7 tablet proved to be highly popular and for the first time there was pure Android tablet challenging the iPad. But it has been more than a year since it was launched and we have heard murmurs about a successor. Today, @evleaks more or less confirmed the existence of the next generation model, as he leaked press shots of the tablet. In addition to this a ‘Best Buy’ circular poster was picked up by Android Centralwhich suggests that the new Nexus 7 will have a 1920×1200 pixel screen and the 16GB model will cost $229.99 (Rs 13,500 approximately).
The interesting bit is that Google’s head of Android, Sundar Pichai will be hosting an event on Wednesday, where he is expected to unveil Android 4.3. We can be pretty sure that he will also officially announce the new Nexus 7 model along with it, and the device will be running the latest version of Android.
Current rumors suggest that the Nexus 7 will be offered in 16GB and 32GB models with support for LTE. It is expected to be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro CPU clocked at 1.5GHz with four cores, 2GB of RAM and will also have a 5-megapixel camera in the back. Like the previous model, it will also be built by Asus. Some rumors have also suggested that it could be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 CPU. Anyways, we will not need to wait for long considering, the impeding Android announcement.
