For the past few days we have been reporting about Sony’s attachable camera lenses for smartphones. Now, SonyAlphaRumors is reporting that these rumored camera attachments will also be able to connect with the iPhone. Reportedly, the lens assembly will magnetically latch on to the phone, while the user is able to control the lens via Bluetooth and an app on the phone.
It appears that these lenses are already being used in existing cameras made by Sony like the RX-100 II and the WX150. Notably, the DSC-QX100 lens is already being used on the RX100 II and features a 20.2-megapixel sensor, a f/1.8 aperture and 3.6x optical zoom. The DSC-QX10 is a cheaper solution from the WX150 and has a 18-megapixel CMOS sensor and an f/3.5-3.9 lens.
Both lenses have a dedicated power button, microphone, display panel for battery and SD card, a tripod mount, a dedicated shutter button, a multifunctional jack, and a zoom lever. The DSC-QX100 also has ring controls.
