Twitter has announced a major update for its iOS and Android apps as well as TweetDeck and Chrome and PC apps. This update brings a new swipeable UI, gives more visibility and the ability to send photos with Direct Messages.
The new UI lets users swipe between Timeline, Discover, Activity screens and also between different signed-in accounts. As mentioned above, DMs can now be accessed via a button on the bottom menu and hence are always visible. There seems to be a renewed effort to encourage people to have more personal conversations on the micro blogging platform and follows the colored conversation lines introduced earlier this year. The company has also for the first time added the ability to share photos via direct messages.
Notifications can now be customized according to one’s needs. On the iOS app, Twitter has introduced improved in-app notifications, while Android users can now choose a specific person they want to be notified about by clicking on the star icon on one’s profile.
