Apple has finally unveiled the next-generation iPad, but that’s not the biggest news. Apple is now calling it the iPad Air. Its bezel 43 percent thinner, just 7.5mm thin overall. The iPad Air weighs just one pound as against 1.4 pounds of the previous iPad. As expected it has the same design language as the iPad mini. However, there is no TouchID fingerprint sensor.

It runs the same Apple A7 chip, which was first announced last month with the iPhone 5S, which has significant improvements in CPU and GPU performance. It has a 5-megapixel iSight camera, a new FaceTime camera with better low-light performance. It comes in silver and space grey. It will replace the current top-of-the-line iPad with Retina Display.

The iPad Air will be available November 1 onwards in select countries starting from $499. Apple surprisingly will continue to keep the iPad 2 alive without any price cut.
